THE SURGERY OF THE FUTURE AT MWC23
- After participating in several trade fairs and congresses in the sector, MWC23 will be the first occasion on which it will be possible to see and perform simulations of abdominal operations with the robot and the technological platform.
- The Rob Surgical System improves the efficiency of current surgical robotics, allowing universalization of high-precision surgery, adapting to the needs of the patient and the surgeon.
- The robot has already been technically validated and tested in animal models by specialists from the Mayo Clinic (United States) and the university hospitals Clínic, Vall d’Hebron and Germans Trias de Barcelona.
Barcelona, February 2023. – Rob Surgical is showcasing its equipment for the first time at MWC23, highlighting the healthcare sector’s need for technological advances adapted to the real needs of hospitals, surgeons and patients. Rob Surgical has been selected to be part of The Next Hospital, an area led by IAS Channel (The Netflix of surgeons) that hosts the 7 main trends in healthcare and technology.
The value proposition is based on three pillars: high precision and safety that benefits the patient, superior usability for the surgeon and a significant reduction in the total cost per surgery that benefits hospitals, as it does not require a dedicated operating theatre, requires fewer staff, no prior training and supports hybrid surgeries.
This last point is the differentiating factor from competitors, the possibility of performing hybrid surgeries, alternating manual manoeuvres and high-precision robot-assisted manoeuvres. All this thanks to the use of the same instruments and flexible robotics that allows the robot to intervene only in the most delicate parts, thus reducing the time and cost of each intervention.
Rob Surgical’s system improves on current robotics and offers an open, flexible platform consisting of a column of four arms that allow the movements of surgical instruments to be controlled with sub-millimetre precision.
The founding team is formed by Dr. Josep Amat, Dr. Alícia Casals, Dr. Manel Frigola and the entrepreneur Jaume Amat. Rob Surgical has raised more than 20 million between private investors and public funding, being Scranton Enterprises the lead investor.
