Dr Juan Pablo Sanz, Head of Urology at OSI Donostialdea, has visited the Rob Surgical premises to see at first hand the advantages offered by Bitrack, the new system for minimally invasive surgery in hospitals.
“It is a surgical robot with an original and very interesting approach: bodies with two or three arms, fungible and partially reusable clamps, it is easy to assemble, and can quickly be changed for conventional keyhole surgery. This system is useful for many surgeries not requiring the sophistication and very high cost of equipment like the Da Vinci”, he commented.
The history of Rob Surgical, from its creation in the university via the technical challenges thrown up in development of the new robot, is a “beautiful example of surgical innovation”, commented Dr Sanz.
OSI Donostialdea includes a network of over 30 outpatient and healthcare centres in the Basque Country, and Donostia Teaching Hospital.
